Super 8 by Wyndham Ottawa Starved Rock

We booked two first-floor rooms for the Starves Tock Marathin 2026. One room smelled strongly of curry and had no air circulation. The other had bed bugs all over the bed and along the side of the mattress. We always lift the sheets to check, and we found them there. The hotel was filthy. Six of us left within minutes and had to scramble to find somewhere else to stay the night before the big race.

The people were extremely friendly and accommodating, and it’s okay if all you need is somewhere to sleep for a short stay. The rooms could use updating, though, and mine had an old, musty smell.

I’ve been coming here for decades and give it five stars across the board. The owners have the right approach: someone was always at or near the front desk, friendly and helpful, with real smiles. It’s right off the freeway, near shopping, and the County offices are just down Edna rd. for maps and research. The place is clean inside and out. The rooms aren’t fancy or new, but they’re good, with plenty of outlets. The fridge, microwave, and everything else worked.

The staff are nice, and check-in was quick. It’s a good location if you’re passing through, although walking anywhere else from here is kind of a pain.
