Inn at Otter Crest

We love the Inn at Otter Crest and have stayed before. The views are unmatched, and it's a peaceful place where you generally park and take the golf cart shuttle or walk instead of driving by the rooms. We were there for our anniversary. An unexpected situation came up, but management took the concern seriously, communicated clearly, and followed through with care. It was reassuring to feel heard and see it handled promptly and professionally. Their kindness and respect reminded us why the views, walking-only community, and people make the property special. We'd happily return. The unit was a little tired, as one front desk personel put it. I'm grateful pets are accepted, but the beds, stairs, and furniture could use some tlc. That and the hiccups are why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. We still love this property and will be back.

The building could use some upkeep, and we mentioned a few issues at checkout. Still, this is one of my all-time favorite locations. We had incredible ocean views, seals lounging on the rocks below, loads of bird species, and even a bald eagle. A nearby path led down to the beach and the biggest, most amazing tide pools I've seen. On clear nights there are plenty of stars and constellations to see. You're tucked into the forest but still close to two adorable towns for shopping and dining. There are also lots of little viewpoints for whale watching, lighthouses, beaches, and other lookouts. It was an incredible stay. We didn't spend much time indoors, so the minor upkeep problems didn't matter much.

The crashing waves are a delight, and wildlife is often in view, especially birds and seals. From spring through fall, you can spot whale spouts. Even in January, Otter Crest is lovely to visit: the grounds are beautiful and something is always blooming. The staff are so helpful, and I always enjoy coming here.

It's an easy drive to Depoe Bay, Devil's Punchbowl, and Moe's clam chowder, and you can also walk along the beach to those places without taking the car. This was my first stay here, though my partner had been once before. We had a very nice balcony view, and the grounds were lush and well tended. They kindly helped us get our luggage to the room in the rain, using golf carts with oversized luggage racks and rain covers for us and our bags. The property is so big I got lost twice, and I wished there were more YOU ARE HERE maps. The building letters are hard to see after sunset. The walls are very thin, so if screaming kids move in next door, ask for another room, they'll move you without an extra fee. Most rooms have a fridge and microwave, while some have full kitchens. The shower was hot with good pressure.
