Hampton Inn Owego

Breakfast was good and the area was clean, but the rest of my stay at the Hampton was disappointing. I expected better. My room smelled musty, the comforter had a stain, and the shower door wouldn’t close all the way. I’d expected a tub instead. The AC unit was loud each time it switched on and off. The pool was absolutely freezing. My feet hurt just stepping into it.

We’d expected more from this brand. At arrival we were told the hotel had double-booked, so our king room became a two-queen room. We accepted that. The room itself was pretty filthy, dim, and had no central lighting, just small lamps. There was no dresser space, only a strange movable wire rack in the cupboard. The bed was hard as a rock, which might suit someone who likes an ultra-firm bed. The parking lot was tiny and the grounds mediocre. The only plus was that pets were allowed, though at a high cost. On our second morning, around 9 a.m., loud doors began slamming against a nearby wall. It went on repeatedly for about ten minutes and jolted us awake. We thought it might be a child and called the desk. They said they’d handle it, but the banging continued for another five minutes. When we looked, it was the housekeeper banging the door over and over while cleaning. I called again and asked to move rooms. One clerk was nice and agreed, but five minutes later another clerk called to ask why. I explained the noise. She said it was common and would happen in another room too. I asked if housekeeping was trained to bang doors into walls while cleaning. She was rude and said the room we’d already been moved to because of their overbooking was an upgrade, so we weren’t entitled to move again. It was some of the worst customer service I’ve ever had at a hotel. The hospitality at this location is a zero. Housekeeping is poor, the room wasn’t clean on arrival, and they don’t seem to understand proper etiquette. I won’t come back. I stayed at the Red Roof Inn down in Vestal area a few weeks ago, and it was superb compared with this place.

We’ll stay here again. It suited us perfectly: indoor pool, free breakfast, EV charger access, and pet friendly.

We’re disappointed that the “Tredway Inn Plaza” is gone. We remember the Treadway Inn and how its owners once treated both customers and staff with care. This hotel was the newest of the three Tredway locations that used to exist, but it’s the best of the hotels still here. It’s new, clean, and has everything you’d expect from the brand.
