Hyatt Place Baltimore/Owings Mills

We had a really nice stay at Hyatt Place for a baby shower and a mini anniversary getaway. Everyone was friendly, and the king room's bed was VERY comfortable. The room had a pullout couch too. I'd definitely recommend this place. It's about 30 minutes outside Baltimore, with everything kind of around you, and the area isn't too bad. You can tell the building is older from the popcorn ceiling and hollow bathroom door, but that didn't bother us. I'm grateful we had such a great experience here. Thank you.

The room was bigger than I expected, with a large sitting area at the front and an open bathroom where the sink was outside the toilet and shower. It was a handicapped accessible room, which may explain the size, and I really appreciated it. Staff were welcoming, and breakfast was typical, with a well-maintained restaurant. I stayed one night while visiting family nearby. The hotel was quiet and clean, and it met my expectations. Other reviewers mentioned musty smells and poor maintenance, but I didn't experience either.

After spending a week at this hotel, we brought home bed bugs. I contacted HYATT after seeing bite marks on my kids. HYATT said bed bugs are considered and handled locally. The local hotel management took three weeks to respond, despite my calling every day, and then said they found nothing, even though multiple customer reviews report the same thing. I stayed in room 404. The hotel is managed by Loundon group, a facade company that offered me $20 in points for the hundreds of dollars and tens of hours I spent getting rid of the bugs. Hotel personnel tried their best to help us, but the management and property manager were horrible. Shame on Hyatt for allowing this.

During Thanksgiving at the Hyatt Inn in Owings Mills, the strong musty odor was there as soon as we walked in. Our first room was on the third floor. Once we switched on the wall air unit, my throat started closing up, and I began coughing. I also had chest discomfort, post-nasal drip, and a severe headache. We changed rooms, but the same symptoms came back. The building feels very outdated, and the wall units had a noticeable mold-like smell. The bathroom was tiny, the room phone didn't work, and several outlets were dead. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, especially to anyone sensitive or allergic to smoke or mold. The air conditioners blow a musty, smoky odor that made the stay unbearable. It was the worst hotel experience I've ever had.
