The Comstock Inn and Conference Center

For what they charge per night, I expected housekeeping to be more thorough. There were nail clippings on the carpet by the bathroom and hairs on the shower walls and in the tub. The tub also drained so slowly that I stood in water while showering. And the vent over the shower was caked with dust and lint.

The staff were kind and helpful, though I was unsure about booking after reading the reviews. The room seemed clean until I spotted candy wrappers between the beds and saw how dirty it was behind the TV stand. A little more attention would have taken care of both.

We could hear everything happening in the neighboring room, and I wish we'd asked to switch rooms. There was also a stale cigarette smell when we got to the second floor. The hotel makes a nice impression outside, but the elevator carpet was really dirty. Our room seemed fine at first, then we found two containers of leftover food in the refrigerator, which made me wonder if housekeeping was cutting corners. The carpet in the room needed a deep clean too.

I've given this place three stays, and I'm done. The restaurant and friendly staff are its best points, but the stay doesn't justify the price. The pillows were uncomfortable, the towels were small, and the shower pressure was very low. I also found black mold beneath the sink rims while rinsing my water bottle.
