Comfort Suites Oxford

There were lots of restaurants on the same block, which helped since we didn't have a car. A ride to the mall or historic downtown cost $15 for the 2-3 miles, though the driver only got $8. The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable, with fluffy beds that weren't too hard or too soft. Breakfast was hot and extensive, with sausage, eggs, omelets, waffles, cereal, and muffins. It felt like the best value. I'd stay again and recommend it to Pinhoti trail hikers needing a rest.

The room was clean, and I was very pleased with the service. The only issue was a broken tub stopper that wouldn't stay open. I called four hotels while my husband and I were in the Oxford area on an Alabama sightseeing trip for our anniversary, and Comfort was the first where a person answered. I was so glad to speak to someone that I didn't worry much about the price. It turned out to be the most reasonable of the four anyway.

The manager never followed up after I reported a bed bug, despite saying she would after an exterminator came. I called and emailed her a photo of the bug, then heard nothing more. When she did reply to my email, she said it wasn't a bed bug. It's now been over a month since I first raised it. I had to throw away about two weeks' worth of clothes so I wouldn't bring the bugs home. I stayed for a week on a work trip. The breakfast was good, the staff were very friendly and clearly cared about making guests feel welcome, and the rooms were generally clean. Near the end of my stay, a bed bug crawled out from behind the bed. I killed it with a receipt, then noticed blood on my pillow and bite marks when I looked in the mirror. I showed it to the front desk, and she agreed it was a bed bug and apologized.

The staff are helpful and very nice, and it's a great place to stay. Room quality varies: we often get a good one, but sometimes it's just okay. It seems like the company has been working on the rooms.
