Best Western Oxnard Inn

I liked that the location felt safe and quiet, and the gym was open late, which was a nice bonus. The rooms are dated, with old carpets, but they were clean enough and not the worst I've seen. Breakfast ends at 9 AM even on weekends, which is a big drawback. Most Best Westerns keep it going until at least 9:30 or 10. And if you arrive late, they lock the door and greet you through an open window. That doesn't feel welcoming.

The breakfast bar did the job, and the little fitness center was clutch. Staff were great, the rooms had plenty of space, and the parking lot was clean. I'd stay again!

After checkout we were still in the parking lot, close to our room. We left at 10:59 AM, the maids went in at 11:05, and by 11:09 we were charged $55 for stained towels. When I called, they said the towels had been washed and the stains wouldn't come out, but the towels were still on the floor and no maid came out with them. They lied to get $55, and it's BS. The next day they tried to charge my card $80, then $40 when that didn't go through. I called about it and they hung up, then claimed we broke something, though nothing was broken. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, not even my enemies.

The room had a motel-style setup, but it didn't feel like a motel, and it was clean. The young man at check-in was really pleasant and informative, and I thought it was good value for the money. I didn't try the pool or breakfast, though people were using the pool while I was there. The one problem was the internet never worked for me. I stay in hotels often, so I'm usually fine getting connected.
