Comfort Inn near Channel Islands

The breakfast was decent, and the lobby felt welcoming. The staff were friendly, which ended the stay on a better note, but I still wouldn't come back. We were there one night passing through and even just for a bed, it wasn't enjoyable. The room felt dirty and very outdated. There was a spider web in the shower corner, and another spider crawled on my arm in bed. No iron or hair dryer, either.

The room phone didn't work, so we had to call on our cell or walk to the office with requests. The bathroom fan was out, the tub and shower were worn, and the carpet felt greasy and dirty. When I kicked the bed skirt, it smelled awful, so I kept using disinfectant spray. Outside, the place had no curb appeal, the lot needed repaving, and there were no parking lines. The room was dated, with rough wall texture, a noisy old ceiling fan that wobbled and had one speed, poor lighting, and worn AC buttons I had to guess at. No ice bucket, and the ice room was hot with no ventilation. We all said, "UGH WERE STAYING HERE!" when we drove up. Never going back.

There's still a little way to go, but the improvements under the new management are easy to see. The rooms are really spacious, the value is great, and breakfast is included and great too.

The beds were comfortable and clean, but the place attracted some sketchy people. There were stains on the bed skirts, something splattered on the walls near the beds, and gross bathroom knobs. Our booking had advertised a coffee pot, gym, sauna, pool, breakfast, and a 24-hour office. None of those were available.
