Holiday Inn OXNARD - VENTURA by IHG

The room was modern, spacious, clean, and comfortable. We were glad to have one on a higher floor, on the side overlooking the pool. The staff were friendly and professional. The downsides were the thin walls and the AC blasting when we arrived, with the room at 61 F. It felt like walking into a freezer, and it didn’t warm up much overnight. Even so, we’d happily return, and we’ll leave a note asking them not to turn on the AC for us :)

I’d asked for a two-hour early check-in through Expedia a week ahead, then spoke directly with the hotel manager on arrival day and was told noon would be fine. I got there at 2:15 for the scheduled 3:00 check-in and was told I’d need to wait another 30 minutes. Now I’m eating a delicious donut and will try again at 3:00. I would have preferred an honest answer. Check-in is a big part of a pleasant stay.

The decor was nice, and the location, front desk, and restaurant were okay. Housekeeping was the problem. During our four-night stay, the beds and room were never attended to. Someone came in once to replace towels, but the trash wasn’t taken out and the room and beds weren’t touched. Nobody told us there’d be reduced housekeeping over the holiday weekend. It was disappointing, and we probably won’t return.

I’ve been a Holiday Inn member for years, and this was one of my best stays. The service and room both earned five stars from me. Keanu, Michele, and the rest of the staff were amazing. I’m looking forward to our next trip to Oxnard.
