The hotel and rooms were spotless, and housekeeping did a great job. Maria and the morning front desk staff were especially friendly and courteous. The afternoon and evening staff handled things competently, though they were less warm and polite, and didn’t come across as well suited to hospitality. I’d suggest asking for a high floor facing the river or the Wharf entertainment town center. The breakfast cafe needs a complete rethink, perhaps a small buffet alongside a traditional American breakfast menu. Few guests seem to spend money on the current setup. Parking is expensive, and Marriott Bonvoy members should get validation.

My stay for the convention at the harbor from February 12th to 15th was amazing, but checking out turned into a serious problem. I left my luggage in the holding room. Staff unlocked it for guests, then left them there without an employee present. When I returned, my camera, which had been outside my luggage, was gone. The staff said they couldn’t do anything because there are no cameras in that room. If nobody is going to stay there while guests are in it, they need cameras. Something extremely valuable to me was stolen, and the staff dismissed the issue like they didn’t care.

I paid for a room that didn’t feel worth the price. It was very plain, with no microwave, and the minimalist look felt like an excuse to cut corners. I know the hotel is renovating, but construction began before 8:30 the previous morning and then started at 9 on Saturday in the room right above mine. The hotel wasn’t busy, yet I was put directly below the work. As a Bonvoy Elite member, I couldn’t get an upgrade or a later checkout, and my status didn’t feel like it counted for much.

The views are fantastic, but the construction was relentless in the morning. The jackhammering shook drinks in their containers, and I could feel the floor vibrating. There was no warning beforehand. I hope you like getting no sleep, especially if you’re there for a convention. I would have preferred staying in Alexandria. Only book here if you have no other choice.
