Headlands Coastal Lodge and Spa

My wife and I had a relaxing birthday getaway in Pacific City. It isn’t cheap, but the Cyber Monday deals make it worth doing every few years. The staff were friendly, and the food was good. The menu font made it hard to read. For value, the meat and cheese tray was the best choice, though I especially liked the crab eggs benedict. Happy with our stay 👍

We’re already looking forward to coming back. The views from the spacious rooms are gorgeous, and the hotel itself is beautiful. Rhiannon (sp?) went out of her way to make our stay special, and Vince was lovely too. The outdoor hot tub was fun, the gym was really nice, and the restaurant was divine. Brandon took great care of us, the best service we’ve ever had. And climbing the dunes is so much fun!

It’s a great location with pretty decent rooms, but the staff made the place undesirable for us. Almost every interaction was disappointing, some people were rude or unprofessional and others seemed incompetent. Getting an early check-in at 2pm instead of 4pm took multiple calls. One person didn’t know the check-in time or whether we could request an early arrival, and told us to call the next day. After we finally got the request acknowledged, there was no record of it when we arrived. With our tired toddler, we waited 40 minutes for the room. They offered a free drink, but at the bar the bartender tried to charge us for it. Just sloppy from beginning to end. I have about five more examples, but won’t spend more time on them.

We arrived at Headlands halfway through our two-week PNW tour and were met with kind service, great food, and lovely views. Our room was spacious and cozy, and we enjoyed using the well-equipped gym followed by the hot tub. If you’re visiting Pacific City, Beach Walk is worth a try. We had a memorable meal there.
