The location is excellent, right by the beach, and the place has a Seattle sort of feel. It’s dog friendly, and the rooms are lovely little cottages. But the sheets were dingy instead of bright white, and the room smelled as if they’d mopped with dirty water without adding lavender detergent. It didn’t seem clean at all, especially with ants scouting around for food.

For $102 a night, I booked two midweek nights through Booking.com and found it a nice little place. Nothing fancy, but neat and clean. The beach trails are an easy walk away, and there are plenty of restaurants a few miles down the road toward Monterey. They put out hot drinks and pastries in the office in the morning.

The location is really convenient for Pebble Beach and the 17 mi drive. My room card didn’t work, and management came out late to give me a new one.

We chose this place because it allows dogs, and that was a mistake. Other dog-friendly places are nearby, so I’d pick one of those. Room #100, next to the office, was tiny, with a small closet. It felt dated, maybe last renovated in the 80s, and wasn’t properly clean. It had that surface-cleaned feeling you get in a place where nobody really lives. The bathroom was terrible. We never got comfortable there, just slept and left as soon as we could. We booked three nights but stayed two, and I’d rather lose the money than spend another night there. It was fully booked during our stay, and I’m sure it’s full all summer. With this location, it’s a shame the owners don’t put in a little effort to make the rooms comfortable or do a bit of lawn maintenance. It feels like they don’t care and would rather let the place run down as long as it makes money. I really don’t recommend it.
