Lighthouse lodge & Suites

The room was quiet and spacious, and the shower water was hot. I booked a queen but got upgraded to a king. The location is great, just down the street from the beach, and the value was phenomenal. I had a fabulous day here. I think Google's overall rating should be much higher, and I hope to return soon.

The room itself was the biggest letdown. The ones left out of the advertising face a cemetery, and ours looked run down, as if only the bare minimum was being done to keep it usable. WiFi was so slow that nothing loaded on my phone, not even texts, and we had no cellphone service either. The lobby coffee tasted like mop water. Booking a hotel in an unfamiliar city always comes with some worry that it won't match the advertising. That's exactly how this felt. The ads really emphasize the cottages, but I didn't get one, and I'm not sure who I upset. The booking page doesn't make clear which room you'll get or how stark the difference is between a cottage and the regular motel-looking rooms. I'd give it three stars for the price compared with other places nearby, but the misleading advertising really bothers me. It feels like they're hiding important details because otherwise people wouldn't stay, and that's disgusting.

The front desk staff were a full five out of five, so nice and welcoming. The Inn is also pet friendly, which was helpful while traveling with our pups. It's close to restaurants and an easy walk to the beach. The place itself was cute, quiet, and clean. I was confused to find out the same Inn has two separate locations. The one down the street is the one shown online. If I'd known the first location didn't include a fireplace or breakfast buffet, I would've booked accordingly. Even so, I'd absolutely book here again and would recommend it.

Each night the patio fireplaces were lit, making a relaxing place to look back on the day with a glass of wine and chat with other guests. We stayed in a cottage and liked it. It was quiet and clean, and we watched deer feed from our patio every day. There is some minor deferred maintenance, but we think the negative reviews come from expecting high-end chain hotel amenities without wanting to pay those prices. The front desk staff were cheerful and incredibly helpful, and made a great impression throughout. Breakfast came at the time given during check-in. Everything was fresh, and the hot items were replenished continuously. The coffee could be better. Some reviews mention the nearby graveyard. At least the neighbors are quiet. We'll be back soon!
