Old St. Angela Inn

We all slept comfortably in a room that had plenty of space for our family of four. It was cozy and beautiful, with a fireplace and thoughtful, very “grandma chic” decor. The common areas had the same charming, comfortable feel, and we wished we had booked more nights to enjoy them. At Old St. Angela Inn, we were warmly welcomed as soon as we arrived and shown around the building. Breakfast was freshly made and delicious. We loved our stay and will absolutely come back soon!

Our room had antique furniture and a charming interior, and the property was decorated up the wazoo for Christmas. It was in a prime location, too. This was my first genuine bed and breakfast stay, and the hosts were wonderful. They made omelettes to order and served peanut butter muffins, fruit, and mini sandwiches for breakfast. There's a shared living room downstairs with a fireplace and board games. Someone had mentioned variable water pressure, and yes, it does vary, but I think that's easy to get past given everything else.

The hostess went out of her way to show us two better rooms that were available, so we could choose one for our free upgrade. We only stayed one night, but she also talked us through several restaurant options and marked things to do and see in Monterey on a map. Nobody asked us to post an online review. Breakfast was good, though the portions were on the light side. It was enough for us, but some people might not feel full. We loved the well-kept old building and its classic decor, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I'd come back when visiting Monterey.

Breakfast was good, and the woman who helped us was very nice. Our first room had a terrible bed, with a mattress that sagged into a hollow. It may have been the worst bed I've slept in. Thankfully, changing rooms was no trouble, and the other room was much better. We booked three nights. The mattress and bed frame still need replacing.
