Comfort Inn South Padre Island Central

We had a problem with our reservation and got a room here at very short notice. The front desk woman was so sweet. The location is less than a mile from the beaches, with several food options nearby. The room was clean and better than the one we’d reserved elsewhere. Great location, great staff, great experience.

The breakfast area was tiny, and there wasn’t really any hot food apart from maybe waffles. There also wasn’t anywhere to sit, so we went to a nice little Cafe down the street instead. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I wanted to shower but there were no towels. During the night, half of my room lost power while the other half still had it, so it couldn’t have been a power company issue. I told the front desk clerk, who said he knew about it, but didn’t offer anything for the inconvenience.

The location and rooms are good, but the woman at the front desk didn’t know how to serve or attend to a customer. I arrived at 2:55 and she told me to wait until 3 on the couch. At 3:10, she started helping other customers even though I’d been first, and my kids were waiting to use the restroom. I called her out and let the other two customers finish. When it was my turn, I said I’d arrived first and she could see the kids needed the restroom. She looked at me like I’d spoken Chinese and rudely asked for my ID and credit card. I can tolerate a mediocre place or service, but not a rude person in customer service. If management sees this, get the staff a free customer service course from YouTube if you can’t pay for one.

After my sister explained what happened, the worker upgraded our room as a courtesy. The room was clean, though we had to ask for towels. It’s less than a mile from the beaches and close to several food options. Great location, great staff, and a great experience.
