Home2 Suites by Hilton South Padre Island

We booked two nights and were looking forward to it, but the stay was horrible and cut short. It was cold, though we thought we'd make the best of it. We were watching a game, having dinner, and relaxing when we realized the heater and shower weren't working. It was 11 PM by then. We weren't moved to another room until 12:30, and ten minutes after getting there, all kinds of noises started in that room too. We got no rest all night. We told the staff, but they kept having to wait for someone else to take a turn trying to fix things. We still haven't heard from the manager. Some kind of resolution would've been nice. We lost money and vacation time.

My stay was okay, but cleanliness and several small details made me uncomfortable and took away from the experience. Housekeeping came into my room while I was sleeping twice. Even after realizing someone was inside, they stayed instead of leaving right away. It felt invasive and unprofessional and disrupted my rest. Guests shouldn't have to worry about privacy. Chantel is the reason I gave five stars. She listened, followed up with a callback as promised, gave me an upgrade, and was genuinely helpful throughout. She made me feel heard and cared for after the problems, and her kind, professional service really stood out. The stay itself needed improvement, but Chantel represented the sort of service guests hope for, and I appreciate what she did.

Our room was spacious, but only the west end of the building has any sort of view. Hilton had recently acquired the property to convert it to a Home2Suites, and it had been open for only about five weeks during our stay. They were still working out technology problems with the room keys, both the Digiatal Key app and the physical cards.

We enjoyed relaxing on the balcony in the evenings, and the rooms were spacious. Home2 Suites South Padre Island is affordable and conveniently located near the beach and restaurants. Breakfast was a nice bonus. We'd definitely stay here again.
