Sand Rose Beach Resort

The beach views were beautiful, and we enjoyed our time at Sand Rose Beach Resort. Our room was comfortable, the property was clean and lovely, and the whole place felt relaxing. Everyone on staff was welcoming and ready to help. It was a great getaway, and I'd happily return.

Ola was a bright spot, with good food and drink choices and great service, and the hotel sits right on the beach with an amazing view. Our room looked nice, though the building is starting to show its age, and most of the staff were friendly. There were some real maintenance problems, though. The toilet mostly just swirled things around, and it took five or six flushes to clear. We reported it, and someone may have looked at it, but it never got fixed. The fire alarms went off on most days we were there. One elevator also stopped working, so everyone had to use the other one or take the stairs. The bar and grill are good, but the place could use renovation and maintenance.

The wonderful beach access was the clear highlight of our honeymoon. The rest of the stay was much harder than it should have been. When we arrived after a long trip, we were given keys to a room that already had someone in it. The person inside was dressed and understanding, but it was an unsettling start. We'd paid extra for a jetted tub, but the jets in that first room didn't work, and half the outlets and power on that side were out too. We reported it the next morning. Someone came to look at the jets and outlets, but nobody got back to us. We eventually went to the front desk ourselves and waited more than 20 minutes just to ask about it and request another room. They said we could move the next day, so we didn't get the amenities we'd paid for until day three of our four-night stay. The replacement room had a toilet that kept failing to flush. Each time we called, it took over 30 minutes for someone to bring a plunger, and this happened at least four times. Between the queues, waiting for maintenance, and dealing with room problems, a lot of our honeymoon went toward getting basic things sorted out. Breakfast was another hassle on our last morning, when we had a flight to catch. Although it was advertised to start at 7:00, we and two other groups waited for the area to open until about 7:05. There also didn't seem to be anyone cleaning tables during breakfast, so finding a clean place to sit was difficult.

The pool was lovely, and the patio was clean. We also really liked the beach. Breakfast was very good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only snag was that our keys needed reprogramming pretty often.
