Breakfast was amazing, really clean, and the food was good. They had little extras like cucumber water, which was delicious. The two-room cabin was a perfect size for two kids and two adults. The place was so clean that you could walk around barefoot without anything sticking to your feet. There wasn't a speck of dust on the windows, and the kitchen was spotless. I liked getting a code to enter the room. Highly recommend! We plan to come back for a longer stay when we have time.
The rooms are cute and well appointed, but sleeping here was hard. The walls are paper thin, and the curtains are nearly sheer, so they don't keep out the bright lights outside. For hours, the people above us stomped, pounded, and banged on the ceiling. It sounded like furniture moving, bowling, or a ritual sacrifice, and continued well into the hotel's quiet hours. I asked management to remind our upstairs neighbors to consider the people below them, but the noise kept going. Throw rugs on the bare floors might help with both noise and warmth. Breakfast was nice, though most of the food was cold. The room wasn't inexpensive, but the experience felt more like a cheap hotel.
I'd say don't stay here unless you have to. The small room cost much more than the price advertised on Google. On arrival, they told me to “give the door a shove.” I had to hit it like a linebacker charging the offensive line to get in. The walls were thin enough that I could hear the couple next door as if they were right beside me. “What did you say?” “I said- turn up your hearing aid!” I asked to move rooms, but they said they couldn't, although they could cancel it and give me a full refund. I asked for a referral to another hotel and got no answer. I called another place, but everything was booked. With so much snow, I didn't want to drive over the mountain, so I stayed. After dinner I went to bed, though bright light still came through the curtains, which didn't block it. At 2 AM, I could hear the couple on the other side going at it, with the bed banging against the wall. Good for them. By 5 AM, people upstairs were up, coughing loudly, with a dog sliding across the floor and a TV on a news station. Are we having fun yet? Coffee was available at 7 AM. They had Coffee mate, but no half and half. Depending on the gas station, it was only slightly better than gas station coffee. The eggs were tasteless until I added store brand ketchup.
For most people visiting Archuleta County, this is probably the best hotel around. The property is lovely, the rooms are nice, and it stays quiet. As of January 2026, a few restaurants even deliver here, which I never expected to see as someone who lives in Pagosa.
The shower only ever got lukewarm, and there wasn't an iron or ironing board anywhere, so staying presentable was out of the question. I also got no real response when I texted the host to ask about moving to a larger room. On day two, the only message I received was a reminder to check out by 11 the next morning. No acknowledgment, no follow-up, and no customer service. I had booked a “standard queen,” but the room was nowhere near what I consider standard. There was maybe a foot of space around the bed, with no dresser, luggage rack, or closet. I had to pile my bags on the floor and wedge them by the bed just to leave room to walk. I've never been in jail, but I imagine a cell would feel roomier. This was one of my worst stays. It was uncomfortable, communication was absent, and I wouldn't recommend the place under any circumstances.
