Make sure you get the gate lock codes before arriving, since there are two gates to get through on the way to this little paradise. 😁 I had a lovely B&B stay. The host was wonderful and kept checking that we had everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent, made with care and mostly fruit grown there. I’d love to return. ❤️

Irene made the stay feel especially welcoming, and her suggestions for restaurants in Pahoa and Hilo, as well as scenic spots, were easy to trust. Our room was spacious and clean, with a separate bathroom on the same second floor and towels, shampoo, and soap provided. We slept well without trouble from domestic or wild animals. Lava Tree Tropic Inn is a comfortable, reasonably priced choice for a tropical island adventure. It sits in the middle of a plantation with macadamia and avocado trees, oranges, tropical flowers, and signs of wild animals, including wild boar. The one-lane road in both directions runs through tropical forest and was built to evacuate people during the 2018 volcanic eruption. It felt like a Tarzan habitat. Thanks, Irene, for your hospitality!

Irene knows the area well and always had ideas for our itinerary. She makes breakfast every morning with fresh tropical fruit from around the inn and homemade yogurt. It’s a nice little B&B beside Lava Tree State Park in Pahoa, and Irene, the owner, is very kind. There are three bathrooms for about five rooms, I think, so finding one for a shower or toilet was almost never an issue. Plenty of interesting places to explore nearby. I’d definitely recommend it.

I stayed here nine years ago and somehow never got around to leaving a review. We loved the place, and Irene was wonderful, especially with all the fruit at breakfast. Everyone ate together, which made for a real sense of camaraderie among the guests. This probably isn’t the stay for someone who wants to keep to themselves and avoid conversation. But if you enjoy meeting people, a great location, good food, and a lovely host, I think you’ll love it.

It felt like staying with good friends, except they had the coolest home in the middle of a state park. Irene was friendly, welcoming, and knew a lot about the islands and nearby sights. At breakfast she served nuts and fruit from her own trees. The B&B sits in a huge garden surrounded by acres of macadamia and avocado trees, along with plenty of other trees and flowers. A tropical paradise. We’ll definitely be back.
