The guest kitchen is well equipped, and there’s a good selection of complimentary breakfast ingredients so you can make your own meal. Our room had a patio, an en suite bathroom, airy furnishings, and lovely ocean views. The small business is run by a charming couple. If watching red-hot lava flow into the ocean is your dream, Pahoa is the place to visit, and Pele's breath is a great place to stay while you’re there. The grounds have several steam vents, including one surrounded by a steam sauna, where you can unwind in a natural steam room. Highly recommended!

The location is ideal if you’re taking a lava boat tour, and there’s a broad range of complimentary breakfast ingredients so guests can make whatever breakfast they like. The kitchen is there to use, too. We loved this place. The rooms were large and nicely furnished, with a beautiful ocean view. The grounds are lovely and interesting, with volcanic steam vents and a sauna heated by natural steam. Highly recommended.

After we moved into the cottage, we found fleas and fire ants. My husband woke up after one night covered in flea bites, then was very sick for two days, so we had to stay at a hotel. We never got any money back and also paid for the hotel ourselves. We’d paid in advance for a month in the cottage, but for the first three days my husband and I were put in a tiny room while it was cleaned and the current renter moved out. That room was like a laundry closet. We left for a hotel because an EDM party there went on until 2 a.m. I recommend waiting to pay this company until you’ve seen what you’re getting. We had an agreement with the host and felt our money was stolen. There were other problems at the property too: the sauna had fire ants, and a caretaker said they sprayed it with chemicals to keep them away. The main house and kitchen had fruit flies, and there were mosquitoes around the unusable swimming pools.

The room had a great view, and the bed was clean and comfortable. We had a great stay, and the owners were very nice. It’s a no-frills B&B with a natural steam vent sauna and fresh water pools. It’s still being fixed up, so don’t expect a five-star resort. For the price, it was well worth it.

The water kept cutting out because the pump had a problem, and the breaker would trip after a short while. There was mold in the room. After we ran out of toilet paper on the first night, we were told paper products were our responsibility. They moved us to another room, but it wasn’t any better. At that point the internet and phones were out, and there’s limited or no cell service there. We booked a room for a month at a “special rate.” Men who worked on the grounds and grew marijuana in a hidden area told us the man running the place moved his girlfriend and her child in while his wife was in India on family business. They said his wife kicked him out, and he cancelled the phone and internet services. We left after being told we’d get a refund. Now we’re fighting the credit card company because the business says there are no refunds. We have text messages to prove what we were told. In our view, the owner is deceitful, sells and grows drugs, and has no morals. The place is run down, broken, and full of stress. It’s supposed to be a retreat for healing.
