Saddle West Hotel and Casino and RV Park

I’d given this hotel a great review before, but I need to mention a few things now. The towels feel like sandpaper, and toiletries aren’t provided beyond a bar of soap. Standard rooms have no fridge or coffee machine. Rooms that do have them come with very bad coffee and a basic, empty fridge. There’s complimentary coffee by reception and a few vending machines, though the selection is limited. The restaurant menu is very short, mostly burgers and a couple of salads, and the buffet is rarely open.

I arrived at 2:30 am after driving from a trade show in Southern California, expecting my guaranteed late check-in to be available. Instead, the front desk was shut with a sign saying it was closed from 12 to 7 am. Security tried to help, but there was nothing about my reservation at the desk, and hotel rules only let them check whether the front desk staff had left my key and paperwork. They hadn’t. Apparently, somewhere in the online booking process I agreed to check in before 11:30 pm. I guess I’ll have to read every disclosure and page of fine print whenever I book at a place that isn’t a national brand. I’d stayed there about seven years earlier and it was fine then, but after this I’ll never return. I found a nice room at the Holiday Inn down the street at 3:30 am. Save yourself the hassle and stay somewhere else.

The bedding was clean, but the floor still had food left by the previous guests, and the remote needs replacing. Its back wouldn’t stay on, so the batteries kept falling out. The toilet kept clogging and running. The pool was out of service, which disappointed my child, and the bed felt like sleeping on a box spring. Really uncomfortable.

We pulled in with our coach and toad on the south side of the casino, then I walked over to the hotel check-in desk and they got us checked in for the RV park. You can drive around behind the casino, reach the north hotel parking lot, and enter the RV park from there. Easy, friendly and fast, and we didn’t need a reservation. We’re staying one night at the Saddle West RV Resort, RV Park. The casino is very nice, and it’s a short walk from the RV park to the casino and food.
