Blue Tile Beach House

The Sunset Room seems like a good budget pick, especially with its roomy ensuite bathroom, and the upstairs and downstairs ocean suites can sleep four if you want to spend more. We stayed at the Blue Tile Beach House and loved how it felt like a little Paia hideaway. Alexis and Eric run the quaint B&B, and they’d sometimes leave a note offering guests something they’d baked that evening. They supplied just about everything, including coffee, breakfast fruit, shampoo and conditioner, beach towels, and snorkel gear. The beach is right outside, with reefs full of the fish people talk about on Maui. We snorkeled there without paying for an excursion, and it’s also a lovely place to swim or sunbathe, with ocean views from the room. My wife smokes, though, and there wasn’t a nearby spot on the grounds where she could sit and do that. We’d recommend it if you’re after a quiet, small-scale stay and want to feel like part of the town.
