The breakfast bag was a frozen sandwich and juice, with weak coffee and only lukewarm water. We ended up eating elsewhere. I also complained to Ramada Head Office, but the response was a prewritten apology from the hotel General Manager. The room problems were extensive: dirty furniture and bathtub rims, a cracked window, missing controls on the air conditioner/heater, and corridor doors that didn’t lock automatically, so anyone could get into the lobby. Guest security felt nonexistent. There was dirt on the night table and spots of dirt in the bathroom, not mold. Manager Mike brushed off my concerns and said the stuff on the night table was “just jam.” He didn’t consider it dirty. His idea of cleanliness was far below my standards, though he proudly said rooms were cleaned daily and checked by the Head of Housekeeping, who turned out to be his wife. When I asked maintenance about the missing temperature controls, he said we should be able to figure them out, even though he didn’t know whether the unit was set to heat or air conditioning. The booking site never mentioned the renovations. They were so extensive that reservations shouldn’t have been accepted. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. There are much better places nearby, so save your loyalty points and money and stay away.

The renovation looks great, and our new room was honestly nicer than I expected from the reviews. The stay wasn’t too bad, though the old appliances stood out: the air conditioner, lamp, bed, window, and curtains all seemed dated. There was no bathroom fan, some light switches didn’t seem to do anything, and with no ceiling light in the main room it got really dark at night. The water came out cloudy and muddy at first, probably from the construction, so run it for at least five to ten minutes if you get one of the newly renovated rooms. Breakfast was only available in bags from the lobby. Ours had a frozen breakfast burger, fruit cup, orange juice, and a tiny blueberry muffin, with a microwave in the lobby.

The front desk was quick and friendly, and our room was very clean. I think we were the first guests in it after the remodel. It smelled a bit like new flooring and fresh paint, but that wasn’t too bad. I liked the wood-look vinyl plank floors, though they’re probably easier to clean up after pets. We usually travel with our four-year-old golden retriever, who seems to love exploring, and the pet cleaning fee was low. We felt we’d overpaid a little, but not by much. What bothered me was the mess the remodel crew left in the shared areas, even after they’d finished for the night. The hallway down to the room, which I assume had no guests staying in it, and the small foyer at the back entrance had chunks of plaster underfoot. Old mattresses were propped along the wall from the stairwell to the exit nearest our room. It wasn’t a huge issue, but paying over $100 a night for a road-trip rest made it irritating. The location was nice for getting some sleep, and the staff were friendly. This may be more on the remodel team than the hotel, but it still affected the stay.

The room was fairly clean, with a so-so bed, good shower pressure, and hot water. The front desk staff were professional, very nice, and had a sense of humor. On my last visit, though, they were short on maids because employees were out due to Covid, so my room wasn’t cleaned daily. That was fine with me, but it might bother some people. I’ve stayed here a few times for work out of town. It’s fairly cheap, so don’t expect luxury, and the place could use more upkeep. There’s no elevator, just stairs to the second floor. Otherwise things were okay, and I’ll probably stay again.

The room was spacious, and I liked having a nice desk and work area for business. I liked the rooms a lot, but I chose this place mainly for the gym and wish it had been mentioned that there wasn’t one. The bathrooms are tiny, and the tap water tastes pretty gross, so definitely bring bottled water if you want to drink.
