'grand Gables' Home: 1 Block to St Johns River!

I was there as a guest of family for a wedding, rather than the person who booked the place. The grounds, wraparound porch, and view of the spectacular lake were so relaxing. The inn was beautifully decorated, right down to the details, with Christmas lights throughout when we visited in Dec. I'd suggest adding a full-length mirror and more charging ports for devices. I hope you get a chance to visit this inn soon!

The owner showed us the hidden tunnel that once ran all the way to the St. John’s River. A short section has been excavated, but the rest is still blocked off. We were also allowed into the turret at the very top of the house. On the GFWC Woman’s Club of Palatka Christmas Tour of Homes, we toured the Grand Gables Inn and the gracious owner pointed out many interesting features of this Queen Anne style home. The bedrooms are spacious, and most seem to have queen beds. The owner said each bedroom has its own private bathroom. Staying at this Bed and Breakfast would be a wonderful alternative to a motel.

We brought five couples and ten children, 20 people altogether, to this old historic house for Christmas, and absolutely loved it. The house was full of Christmas trees, with one in nearly every room. Opening gifts in the grand living room by the fireplace and big tree felt like a Hallmark movie. My Baby’s 1st Christmas photo shoot came out beautifully. We won't forget our stay and hope to come back soon.

A friend stayed here for a couple of nights while in town to ride bikes, and I got to tour the B&B. The history was evident in every room. It was very clean and well maintained, with high ceilings, pedestal beds, and antique tubs with feet in most rooms. The period type furniture made the place look really nice.
