Econo Lodge Fairfield

When my mother and I were homeless in 2018, we stayed here for a few days. I think it was Presidents' Day when the room cost more than usual, $100. My mother gave me the money to pay while we were at a nearby store, and I handed it over at the motel. They accepted it, and I went back to her. When we returned, our door was wide open. The woman who ran the place was there with a man holding a large black garbage bag. My mother asked what was going on, and the woman said, “You never paid,” then accused me of doing something else with the money. We took our things and left. I was 11, and it hurt. We felt we'd been scammed and were back out on the street.

The room was spacious, very clean, and well cared for, with a mini fridge and microwave. No pool, and sadly no coffee either. I only held back the fifth star because the bathroom window wouldn't lock, so we had maintenance brace it with a stick. The price was fair, and the staff were friendly and helpful, working hard to keep things running smoothly. I'd stay again and recommend it.

The owner was friendly and helped me figure out directions to the places I needed to reach. My room was clean, with plenty of towels, a large TV, and a comfortable bed. One tip: bring your own pillow, since these are short and feel more like couch throw pillows.

I woke up covered in bites and concluded there were bed bugs. I took a shower because of it, which made me late. Checkout was at 11, and at 11:15 a staff woman was pounding on the door. When I opened it and started to say good morning, she yelled that we should have been out by 11 and threatened to call the police. I hadn't spoken disrespectfully to her, and the whole thing felt awful. I wouldn't recommend this place. I should've chosen another motel.
