Hampton Inn & Suites Palestine

My room door kept swinging open even after I shut and locked it. The first night I came out of the shower to find it open and thought I'd failed to close it properly, but it happened repeatedly. I finally figured out what was going on and recorded it. For multiple days, my belongings were left in an unlocked room. It was really scary and made me feel unsafe. The hotel was very dirty and disorganized. They didn't replace the soap daily, and after I asked several times, there still wasn't more soap the next day. Furniture sat out on the lawn for the entire week I was there. It made me wonder if there was a bed bug problem and why the furniture was left outside so long. Very alarming. The front desk staff were very nice, but this hotel has major problems.

I stayed overnight for work, and the lobby looked lovely with Christmas trees and music playing. Everything seemed clean, and there wasn't any strange cigarette smell. Lanita (hopefully I'm spelling that right) was incredibly hospitable. She answered all my questions and was the sweetest host I've met at any Hampton Inn. She made my whole morning, and I came right back to my room to write this review about her.

The staff made this stay. Kay, the AGM, was one of the kindest and most guest-focused people I’ve met. During our nearly week-long visit, I saw her treat every person she came across with the same warmth, whether staff or guest. Everyone was genuinely kind, efficient, and ready to help make us comfortable. Great stay, amazing service. I’d give them more than five stars if I could, and would happily recommend this property.

Sleep was nearly impossible here. The walls are paper thin, and the night was one interruption after another: around 4am, someone slammed doors and emptied cans right outside our room, with the cans rolling past our door. A huge gap underneath made the room feel unsafe. At 6am, cartoons blared next door while people banged on the walls, then kids upstairs ran and jumped on beds from about 6:45am. We had booked a week ahead and called at 4pm on arrival day to say funeral travel meant we’d get in around 2-3am. An accident delayed us further, and we reached the room about 3:15am. When I asked about a late checkout, it was $45; an extra night wasn’t possible because they said no rooms were available. The room was dusty, as if from recent remodeling, and not very clean. Staff were unaccommodating and didn’t cover basics at check-in, like breakfast hours, where it was, or what amenities were available. The noise, safety concern, poor communication, and lack of empathy made for an exhausting, disappointing stay. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
