Best Western Plus Palm Desert Resort

Breakfast is made to order, which I liked. The rooms were another story: the walls are so thin we could hear every word from the adjoining rooms, and there was mold in the bathroom. The heater, bathroom lights, and fans also gave us trouble. Maintenance responded right away, but it was a shame to walk into so many issues.

We had a lovely stay. The service was wonderful, the rooms were very nice, and breakfast was outstanding. I’d happily recommend this place.

The laundry room was dingy, and a load costs $5. That’s more than a gallon of gas in California, which says a lot about what they charge for something so low quality. You also have to exchange quarters at the front desk in $5 increments, and nobody tells you that you’ll need quarters before you get to the laundry room. Even if you buy detergent at the desk, they don’t mention it. No wonder they call it Best Western Plus, I guess the Plus is for the obnoxious price.

The room itself was decent, but I won’t be back. At check-in they charged over $100 more than the confirmed booking price, even after fees. Then at 9:30 pm we got a noise complaint, despite quiet hours starting at 10. There were two of us talking and one person reading, and the staff member hadn’t checked whether the complaint was accurate. He just told us to keep it down and didn’t want to hear that we weren’t being loud. It left us wondering whether we weren’t allowed to talk in our room. The response was rude and unimpressive. Keep an eye on your bill, because what you’re told and what they charge can be very different, and they don’t seem to verify complaints.
