Movie Colony Hotel - Adults Only

The deluxe king room’s huge balcony was a highlight, and we liked that the place never felt crowded. We saw only two other couples during our stay, mostly by the pool, and there were no kids. Breakfast from the complimentary bar was a nice extra. It’s also a short walk to downtown Palm Springs, and the woman at the front desk was so polite and friendly that she walked us to the room and checked that we had everything. A couple of drawbacks: the bathroom door slides on a rack and doesn’t close all the way, so there’s very little privacy. You’ll hear your partner in there. The hotel door wasn’t sealed at the top, and several mosquitoes got into the room, so bring bug spray. The pool was dirty on our first day, so we skipped it, but it was clean the next day and we swam. There were lots of mosquitoes around it too. We stayed the first week of October, so maybe it was mosquito season. For the price, it’s great value, and I’d stay again on a budget.

Our room was great, with a nice two-story layout, a couch, good bathrooms, big patios, and showers that were large and very hot. But I was very disappointed that the pool wasn’t heated, despite the hotel saying it was. It was about 30°. We also weren’t expecting loud traffic all night.

A nice little boutique hotel with clean, updated rooms and a lovely pool area. It’s quiet, which suited us. There weren’t kids running and playing in the pool. Nothing wrong with that, I just sometimes prefer a peaceful weekend. Some suites have private rooftop decks, a really nice touch. The only small complaint is the pillows, which are all flat and don’t offer support. Otherwise, I recommend it.

I’d rate it 4.5 stars. The room was clean and had a big private balcony, and the service from Nate, I think that was his name, was excellent. They offered pool amenities, which feels more like something at a five-star hotel, plus a wine and cheese hour and complimentary breakfast. My only complaint was the bathroom door. It slides on a rack and doesn’t close all the way, so there’s no privacy. Still, I’d definitely go back.
