The Skylark a Palm Springs Hotel

I really enjoyed my stay at The Skylark Hotel and would stay again. The room was clean and comfortable, and I liked the retro style. The pool area was relaxing, with a beautiful mountain view. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was convenient, close to downtown but still quiet.

A total delight in Palm Springs. This beautifully redone vintage motel was quiet, comfortable, and felt safe, with all the amenities. The staff were great, and the location was handy for Ricks and Billy Reed’s and all those mid-century PS delights.

The bathroom in our Superior Room was dingy, the shower was small and cave-like, and there was no counter space for a medicine bag. We were extremely disappointed to find the room hadn’t been updated. We thought Superior would be better than Deluxe, but it was the Deluxe Room that had been fully renovated. The furnishings were OK, and the bed was very comfortable. The advertised blackout blinds didn’t do the job, especially with every room facing the 24-hour pool. The rooms still used physical keys rather than keycards, which was annoying to carry around. The pool bar stayed closed all weekend because of understaffing. You could buy a drink at the bar in front of the building and have staff bring it to the pool, but it felt awkward walking there in a bathing suit among people in everyday clothes who weren’t staying at the hotel. Breakfast was underwhelming. Staff didn’t keep an eye on the buffet, so food and coffee ran out quickly. There were no lighter options like fruit, yogurt, or juice. The hotel photographs well but feels a little cheap in person. There are better hotels in the area for a similar price.

This was our second trip to the skylark with a resort pass, and it’s become our go-to Sunday funday spot. It’s relaxing and quiet, with music that isn’t too loud. Every Sunday we’ve gone, we’ve had the pool almost to ourselves. There’s a good little cafe with lots of options, and bringing a small sitting float was nice. Water and ice are available, and towels are too, though you have to leave your driver’s license. The bathrooms are the cleanest I’ve seen. Customer service was really friendly and accommodating.
