I came here for my bachelorette party and was treated like royalty, then returned with my now-husband for a mini honeymoon and had an even better stay. We made memories I’ll keep for a long time, and we definitely plan to return. The rooms have a great, almost magazine-like feel. There are three pools, so guests have plenty of room to lounge, and I loved that it’s truly child-free. The food and drinks tasted great on a hot desert day. The staff were friendly, happy to help, and seemed to love their jobs.

We stayed in the back left corner of the property, where a friendly cat hangs around, and loved it. The Villa Royale had the best vibe of the three hotels we stayed at in California. We split our trip between here and Colony Palms, but next time we’d just stay at the Villa Royale. The complimentary breakfast was solid, and the room TV made streaming easy, unlike the much worse setups at the other hotels. We stayed in the Del Rey and have no complaints at all.

We had bed bugs in the bed and ants in the bathroom. It took hours to get moved to another room, and we didn’t receive any discount or other perk, though I felt we should have gotten some kind of refund. If I’d known this would be my last trip with my mom, I would have made a much bigger fuss. The trip had given her something to look forward to after getting out of the hospital, so the whole thing was especially unfortunate.

The owners have turned this beautiful spot into a magical hideaway. The atmosphere is top notch, and the staff are incredibly sweet.

The room had a fireplace, a separate living area, vintage furnishings, and old architecture. It’s a small, 21-and-over property, which worked well for us as adults traveling without kids. One drawback was the mosquitoes. We saw several inside the room. Still, this was one of the best hotels we’ve stayed at in a while.
