Casa Loma Inn

The desk staff were super friendly and helpful, the beds were clean, and we had a great Gulf view from the 4th floor. It was comfortable and convenient, with a parking lot that worked well. The kitchenette had what we needed, including dishes and a refrigerator, plus a small drip coffee maker. The shower was amazing. The place is well loved and has the basics, but it’s dated, with stucco walls, and not fancy. The rooms have been updated, though. If you want fancy, don’t book here. If you’re after a good deal and a great view, go for it. I like this place and would come back for a week when the weather is good for the beach. I didn’t see an elevator. If you’re finicky, stick to the pricey hotels and pay top dollar.

We were visiting a family member nearby and wanted a beach view for the sunsets, and this place worked out as a hidden gem. It’s right on the beach with access and a great view from the room. The inside appears to have been recently updated, all new, while the exterior keeps its nostalgic 60s and 70s look. The staff were friendly and helpful. It’s clean, comfortable, and affordable, and a good choice if a great view is what you want. If you’re looking for resort type amenities, this isn’t the place.

The location is great, close to things to do and right on the beach. Service was good and respectful, and the room itself was really nice. The parking lot is small and fills quickly, though there’s an overflow area. The cleaning, however, was poor: the floor hadn’t been swept, there was hair in the bathroom and on the shower wall, and we bought bleach and cleaned it ourselves. Walking on a sandy floor feels awful. We heard that sheets might not be changed for new visitors if they don’t look stained. I really hope that isn’t true. They need to change sheets, sweep and mop, and wipe things down properly. We would stay again, but we’ll bring our own linens and bleach. The area was nice.

The late-night visit was the most unsettling part of our stay. Around 10:45 p.m., a man in a hoodie knocked and asked if we were okay, saying he was security, though I couldn't clearly tell he worked there. I went to the desk to find out why someone had been sent to our room. Two people who said they were security were near the office, but the desk staff said they knew of no call or dispatch. After more discussion, one guard said “someone called”; another later said Room 410 had a dehumidifier problem. The accounts didn't line up, and it felt like security and the desk weren't communicating. There should be clear coordination before guests get unexplained visits that late. On day 4, Room 410 looked vacant. I also told the desk about a cockroach, but it didn't seem to get any further attention. Room 406 had other problems too: broken blinds that let daylight in around 5 a.m., a cracked peephole, and a patio door that needed force to close. The shower did have steady hot water and good pressure. Between the maintenance issues and the way the security visit was handled, I wouldn't stay here again.
