Our corner unit had a wraparound porch, so we got sunshine all day along with a nice breeze. It was an easy place to unwind with a book and look out at the beach, and the pool and hot tubs were clean. Parking was simple, with plenty of spaces, and the elevators ran quickly without any trouble during our stay. I really enjoyed it and would definitely come back.
The one thing that worked in this place's favor was the beach access. Everything else made the stay feel far from a vacation. Only part of the pool was working, which we weren't told beforehand, and staff kept asking about wristbands every 15 minutes. Lose one and it's a $25 charge for a rubber band that costs $1. The elevator situation was rough too, with just one running and waits of 15-20 minutes. The beds were very stiff, almost like sleeping on the floor, and the front room was so cramped I kept banging my knees on the bed. The ceiling looked like it had quite a bit of water damage that had simply been painted over. For what we paid, it was a horrible experience.
My wife and I have stayed at Calypso towers before, but we both prefer Sunrise resort by far. The location puts more restaurants nearby, and in November the beach is less crowded. Having the parking deck right underneath instead of across the street is a big plus. It's a great condominium, and we'd definitely recommend Sunrise Beach Resort.
Nice place. Parking is $50 per car, and a cart costs another $50. No pets 🤗🤗🤗
We loved the corner balcony and its amazing views in unit 1611, but we had a lot of frustration during our nine days. The condo itself was nice, though dusty, and the balcony was so dirty that we had to clean it before sitting outside. I emailed the owner about a few things and never heard back. We also weren't told until about two days before leaving that parking would cost $50 per vehicle. With construction going on, only two elevators were working in the 25-story resort, and waits could run 10-15 minutes. They got so packed that we struggled to get our bikes in and out, and our group of six often got separated and had to meet again in the garage. The garage said there was a place to lock our e-bikes, but every spot they showed us was full of bikes and paddleboards that looked like they'd been there a long time, so we had to bring the bikes up to the 16th floor. My daughter's truck stuck out a little because it was large, and they left a warning on the windshield. Nobody came to suggest a larger space or help, they just threatened a fine. We also weren't told one pool and the splash pad were closed, leaving one pool for the whole resort. People may want to ask about construction and whether all the amenities are open before booking.
