The Orleans Hotel & Casino

There’s plenty to do here beyond gambling, with a bowling alley, movie theater, and arena. The rooms are spacious and affordable, and the buffet is solid for its price. The New Orleans theme gives this locals casino a fun feel. It’s a good fit for families or anyone looking for entertainment beyond the casino, and the shuttle to the Strip is convenient. It doesn’t have the Strip’s glitz, but it does offer genuine fun without pressure.

The immediate area around the hotel didn’t give me much reason to explore, but public transport nearby made it easy to get to the Las Vegas Strip and back. I had a pleasant stay and can recommend it for a unique playa experience with lots of options. My room was refreshed once a day. The tidying was subtle, just enough to feel comfortable without making me wonder whether anyone had been there. I didn’t order anything to the room, though I could have used the provided phone. I was satisfied with the hotel service overall.

Our room was very spacious, the bed was amazing, and the pillows were great. We also got a free upgrade at check-in. I’d stay here again, though finding somebody else’s hair on the sink and towels was the reason I held back a star. Being right on the Strip without Strip prices was really convenient. One other letdown: at a New Orleans hotel, I expected some New Orleans food, but there wasn’t any. The sushi was awful and upset my boyfriend’s stomach.

The check-in was chaotic. I came back at 1:45 PM and was told a room was ready, but early check-in would cost another $50. After paying, I was sent to the self check-in line at 2:00 PM, where there were easily 100 people waiting. Earlier that Sunday, around 10:00 AM, I’d politely asked the front desk if I could check in early after checking out of Tahiti next door. The agent was extremely rude, saying, “I can’t wake people up and give you a room.” Her tone was unnecessary and unprofessional. My daughter and I were in town for Cheerleading Nationals and booked here only for convenience. We absolutely would have picked somewhere else otherwise. The $50 resort fee felt unjustified too, given the sewer and cigarette smoke smell, which didn’t feel like resort quality. The food was disappointing, and our room was dark, outdated, and uninviting. There was no housekeeping during our stay, so the place really wasn’t worth it. For this price, you can find a much better option on the Strip. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
