La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Las Vegas Airport N Conv.

I booked because they accept large dogs and I've always liked staying at La Quinta. The photos fooled me. This place was filthy, bad enough that wiping your feet on the way out sounds right. We wore flip-flops in the shower, whose floor had a green-black coating, and the curtain was moldy. The doors were dark with grime from people's hands, and the carpet looked ancient, its original color hidden under white stuff. It took 40 minutes to check us in, and the staff were unhelpful and unfriendly. I asked if anyone had a can opener so I could feed my dog. The receptionist opened one drawer, said no, and wouldn't check the kitchen when I asked. He couldn't be bothered. La Quinta should be ashamed to have its name on this hovel.

The room was roomy and pet friendly, which I appreciated, but there was a funky smell in both the room and the halls. The room phone didn't work either. In the middle of the night, the smoke alarm started going off for no apparent reason, so my husband disabled it so we could sleep. I told the office the next morning so they could fix it. We travel a lot and usually have great stays at La Quinta, but this was the worst one. This place could be beautiful if they kept up with maintenance.

The staff were genuinely great. The front desk clerks were kind, the housekeeper was working incredibly hard, and the breakfast employee kept everything clean and stocked. The grounds were lovely too, which made the state of the hotel even more disappointing. Our room had holes in the wall, broken furniture, and a huge mystery stain. The hallways smelled like dog urine, two ice machines were out of order, and the hot tub wasn't working and had leaves in it. Even walking inside made us feel dirty. We paid for two nights but left after one. Free parking and breakfast don't make it worth staying here. I feel bad that the employees have to work at a property LaQuinta isn't maintaining. LaQuinta should be ashamed.

The price and location were both good, and my room was spacious. There was a faint pet smell throughout, probably because the hotel allows pets. Staff were very helpful and accommodating when I needed to add a day to my stay. One thing bothered me, though: a sock stayed on the stairwell for all four nights I was there.
