Both of our stays this year were great for cleanliness, hospitality, location, and price, and we’ll choose Quality Inn again next time we’re passing through. I grew up in Paragould and remember this place as The Ramada. The owners have done a beautiful job with the changes. Our first night, I arrived at midnight after a 7-hour drive and found they had no reservation for me, though I’d booked through booking.com. They handled what could have been a nightmare with calm and kindness, and fixed it quickly. On the final night, another guest’s dog was barking, but they moved us to a nearby room far enough away for quiet, and we slept well. One morning, they also invited our two-year-old son to play with their son and some of his toys. It was such a warm, kind offer.

UPDATE: After getting harassed by phone and email over my review, I want to spell out what happened. The shampoo was heavily watered down. Breakfast had runny eggs, dry sausage that seemed old, watered-down OJ with no other juice, no milk, and stale, hard bagels, bread, and pastries. Our room stank, wasn’t clean, and had lights that didn’t work. The owner or managers seemed to live there, with their kids’ toys spread around the lobby and the kids making noise while people tried to eat. The place felt cheap all over, and we couldn’t unload at the front because cars were parked there. The repairs in the room were crappy. I think the people who own or manage it live there. This was the worst Quality Inn I’ve stayed at. I wouldn’t bother staying here, and I recommend avoiding it.

I was in town for a funeral and had booked and paid for two nights with accumulated points. I called to say I’d arrive very late, well after 3 a.m., then called again after misplacing my keys and said it would be closer to after 6 a.m. The clerk said that was fine since I had the room another night, and I said I wasn’t asking for a refund for the missed night. When I called again to say I was on my way, they said I was a no-show and would have to rebook with more points or a card, losing the points for both nights. The clerk wouldn’t help, so I asked for the manager. He said he didn’t care, gave me a name I couldn’t understand and said Raja. At the front desk, though, the manager’s name plate said Sayed, not Raja. I believe he lied because he knew he was wrong. He was rude and hateful, and I was afraid of him. I rebooked and thought I could sort it out in person. I stayed that night but barely slept. I’d argued with him and was worried he was still angry. I stayed at my friend’s house until 3 a.m., then sat in my car out front for a while. Later, when I went to shower, I could tell someone had gone through my things. I lay down for a few minutes and fell asleep. I woke late and asked the front desk for a late checkout, about an hour, but the girl said no. Around 10:55, she came to my door with a man and told me to start getting my things out. I said I was working on it and could only move so fast, but she said I had 10 minutes. She returned yelling and banging on the door. I showed her I was trying. I’m disabled, 65 years old, and have mobility issues, neuropathy, spinal problems, arthritis, COPD and other health problems. I had to move my suitcase of medications, luggage, breathing machine, makeup, cane and other things. The man with her, who I think was a groundskeeper, offered to help and did. At checkout, I saw a $30 charge on my receipt. The girl said it was for a damaged lampshade on the desk. I’d only put the ice bucket on the desk and hadn’t sat there or used the lamp. I wouldn’t damage someone else’s property out of spite or retaliation, even after being treated badly. My mother raised me better. I suspected the manager might have gone through my things and damaged the shade to blame me, or that it was already damaged and he was trying to make me pay. I felt he clearly had it out for me, but he didn’t come out to accuse me himself. The woman removed the charge and apologized under her breath. My bank account showed that they charged $30, refunded it, and then charged another $30. I’m calling Choice again to report him. Choice refunded the extra points I’d needed to pay and then doubled them, so I suspect he got in trouble for how he treated me and for charging me twice for that second night. He was abusive and relentless. I was already upset because we’d suddenly lost a family member and friend to a massive heart attack. I have more to say. Look for continuation.

The staff is fantastic, and there’s a nice pool and a good Mexican restaurant attached. Accommodations are neat and clean, and breakfast was really nice. A wonderful place to stay. I’d totally recommend it for families or business travelers.

The kids could barely stand being in the room because of the awful mildew or mold smell. Then we found roaches crawling over the bathroom and tabletops. The fitness center couldn’t be used either. While we were asleep, someone slipped a new bill under the door for a $100 “tourists tax”!!!! This place was the absolute worst. Don’t spend your hard-earned money here, go camping somewhere instead.
