Best Western Paramus Hotel & Suites

The woman at checkout was really sweet. We didn’t try the free breakfast because we already had plans, but we could smell it from our room and it smelled good. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and quiet, too. I’d worried about noise with two busy roads nearby, but the sound insulation worked well. We only stayed one night, though we would’ve stayed longer if that had been the plan. :)

The complimentary breakfast was decent, and the staff were really friendly. Our room was clean, but highway noise got pretty loud. The pillows were much too big and firm for me, and I had a lot of trouble sleeping. There also wasn’t any ventilation in the bathroom to clear out the hot steam.

The staff were wonderful, especially Sassy at checkout and Lucy at check-in. They were both very sweet and went out of their way to make my stay pleasant. The place itself was nice, but I wouldn’t stay again because I didn’t feel safe. A woman who said she’d lived there for years started talking to me while we were getting coffee, telling me about problems with the food and how badly she felt she was treated. I ended the conversation, but later, when I went to the lobby to use the computer, she was still there. After I’d been using it for about half an hour, she was standing very close to me. I’d been trying to avoid talking with her, and then I realized I’d left my key behind. She said it was a good thing I was in room (000). I was shocked that she knew my room number. As she continued talking, she mentioned several other room numbers and who was staying in them, saying they lived there too. I felt intimidated and exposed. She kept following me and trying to engage, even though I’d made it clear I was uncomfortable. She was still around when I checked out, which frightened me further. I even stopped at a gas station afterward to make sure I wasn’t being followed. The hotel shouldn’t share guest information with her. The staff were great, but I can’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a safe stay.

Nothing fancy, but the staff are nice and it’s clean and safe. It’s handy if you’ve got business on Route 17, and Red Lobster is right across the parking lot.
