Hampton Inn Grand Rapids-North

The room and shared spaces were very clean, and the place felt welcoming and safe. Breakfast was fresh, organized, and had a good range of choices. We had a very comfortable stay.

At least there was a pool, so we had something to do instead of sitting in the room with generic TV channels. This place was much better than the Hilton the night before, but at these pricey hotels I still don't get why we can't use Netflix and our other accounts.

During a storm, water leaked through the ceiling in my room and soaked one of my shoes overnight. I told the front desk at checkout and was asked to email the manager. I did, but never heard back and got no compensation. I was also meant to get my room deposit back, and still haven't received it. I used to work here as a housekeeper years ago, and unfortunately it doesn't seem like much has changed. After dealing with this leak, I think the property is overdue for renovations and better maintenance.

I travel for work twice a week, and this is the worst hotel I've stayed at. The rooms aren't cleaned well, the building is run down, and some smoke detectors are missing. It doesn't feel safe, and the staff are rude and unpleasant. There are plenty of better hotels in Grand Rapids, and I'd recommend one of the Marriot's. I won't be back to another Hampton Inn.
