Hampton Inn Paramus

The room was very clean, and the breakfast was delightful, with lots of different foods. My big disappointment was that there wasn’t a USB charging port in the room. The staff were nice, especially sorah (I believe that's her name) at the front desk. When a third-party booking messed up my reservation, she went out of her way to keep me calm and sort everything out with a smile. Her people skills are a real gift.

Construction is happening right across from the hotel, and automated announcements from the site play every 15 minutes over two or three speakers. They go on constantly, even at night, and I couldn’t sleep at all. It felt like being detained in a camp with loud, repetitive orders blaring the whole time. I wouldn’t recommend staying here until the construction is completely finished.

The construction across the street was very disruptive, starting at 7 a.m. every day except Sunday. With a room at the front, there was a lot of noise and no chance to sleep late. The whole hotel was loud. The room cabinets slammed shut and need some sort of sound barrier. I’ve stayed here several times without problems, but this visit they said I’d made a mistake with my reservation and hadn’t requested an accessible bathroom. I asked for a room with a roll-in shower. They “upgraded” me to a king room without one, so I slept on the very uncomfortable sleeper sofa and had to buy a shower chair for my disabled mother. The manager later demeaned me, saying they would’ve given me a shower chair. If I requested a roll-in shower and didn’t get one, why would I know to ask for a chair? They should have offered it. The manager called and kept insisting on having the last word until I hung up because he was being rude. I had to ask twice to get a flashing light bulb changed. The old toilet paper holder kept falling off its stretched-out mount, though it would’ve been easy to replace. I guess somebody has to report these things. They’ve lost my business, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel.

It’s definitely no Ritz, but this Hampton Inn is clean, fresh, and updated. The staff are helpful and friendly, and breakfast is plentiful with plenty of variety. A very good place to stay.
