American Inn & Suites

I had a great five-night stay. The room was clean, the rate was good, and housekeeping did a perfect job. Everyone was friendly, professional, and easy to work with.

We left right away and asked for our money back. The room smelled bad, the bathroom was filthy, with urine on the walls and grime in the corners, and there were huge cockroaches, including a live one in the bathtub. We never stayed the night. We'd booked this motel for one night while driving across the country. After eight hours on the road, we thought we'd put up with the run-down look and pothole-filled parking lot until morning. The place seemed mostly empty, though a family by our room had belongings and a grill outside, as if they lived there, which felt like a major red flag. After we checked out the room, we decided we couldn't stay. They later marked me as a no-show on Booking.com, so I couldn't post a review. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I paid for the room through Booking.com, then at check-in was told the dog fee was $15 a night. I agreed to $30 for the two nights, thinking they hadn't charged it online. Instead, he charged my card for the room again. When I pointed out the duplicate charge, he said he'd handled it and the money would be returned, but it never was. He told me to expect it within 24 to 48 hours, and I'm still out the money. They knew what they were doing. Thieves. It's not a great place to stay anyway, and I won't be back. Pick somewhere else.

The room turned out to have three beds instead of the two beds and couch listed when I booked, so nobody had to sleep on the couch. It was very clean, and having two bathrooms made early mornings easier for five people. I came with my girlfriend and three kids, and brought my little dog unexpectedly. The pet fee was only $10 plus $1.50 tax. It was a really good experience all around, and I'll book here again when I visit family.
