Abode at Big Moose Yacht Club

The main floor is where our group spent most of our time. It’s arranged for events and big gatherings, with a 20-foot table with two live edges in the dining area, and comfy couches and chairs by the fireplace. Three bench ottomans sit between the spaces. At first they felt like church pews and didn’t make sense, but once we used the room, they worked well as footrests and extra seating for conversation. The kitchen and bathrooms have generous marble, nice lighting, and good cabinetry. The finishes are top notch, an industrial metal look balanced by warm pine planking. We fit 11 people comfortably. The bedrooms were less important to us, but they were very nice. They have ensuite bathrooms, and the two lower rooms have comfortable fold-out beds. The location is central, and people were envious enough to ask if they could come in to look around or party with us. A premier home in a premier place. Staff and housekeeping were very accommodating, with great response times. A few drawbacks: the house seems designed for events before residential stays. The ADA-compliant main floor bathroom even has a men's/women's placard, and the kitchen has lots of leftover catering gear. Neither is a big deal, but it gave the place a bit of a restaurant feel. There’s also no ski storage closet or mudroom, which we could have used for wet boots and gear coming back with 11 people. There’s no garage for storing equipment either. And there’s no hot tub. The steam shower is a decent substitute, but not as social.
