Larkspur

Our house was a block and a few steps from the midmountain slope on deer valley mountain. The views were great, and the price included a shuttle to park city town, PC resort, and deer valley resorts. Riding down the road at night felt magical, almost Christmassy, even though we were there in March.

The location and views are what make Larkspur special. There are loads of trails nearby, and the house is a short walk from the 23-mile Mid-Mountain trail, which runs from Deer Valley down into the Park City Mountain system. The Deer Valley trail is shorter, and Boulder summit trail is a tougher hike. Main Street is a quick drive away, and Guardsman Pass is close too. The area is amazing for outdoor adventures. We stayed in October 2019. The house itself needs attention. The living room couches are very uncomfortable, with collapsed cushions, and the throw pillows didn't seem to have been cleaned. It's a shame, since the gas fireplace looks inviting. The washer didn't clean clothes properly, and drying often took three or four cycles. With no spare towels, we had to wash them nearly every day. The dishwasher soap dispenser won't close, so soap may rinse out before the wash starts. Some bathroom doors don't lock, which was odd. The kitchen is extremely small, so this might not suit people who like to cook. I gave it 4 stars instead of 3, though I'd put the house at about 3-1/2 right now. The owners could fix these things fairly easily and at reasonable cost. Time will tell if they invest in what the place needs to become a 5-star location.
