Hilton Garden Inn Annapolis

I booked a whirlpool suite for a celebration, but tiny brown bits came out of the jets. The front desk said the cleaning crew had left and the other rooms were booked. I offered to clean it myself for a discounted rate, and the employee agreed and sent supplies. I was promised a refund for that, but it never appeared on my receipt. I called the hotel and customer service, and a manager was supposed to call me back. That never happened. I also left my number when I called to speak with the manager, and still got no call. The owner’s response doesn’t feel genuine. The room had other problems too. One washcloth was stained, the toilet wouldn’t flush until I contacted the desk, and though that was fixed quickly, it should’ve been taken care of before we arrived. The shower water pooled around my feet instead of draining right away, the lamps were dusty, and the bedroom door needed fresh paint. Twice in the night we were woken by a loud noise from the heat unit, though it only lasted a few seconds each time. The next morning the buffet wasn’t available. We were told renovations were coming and breakfast was now ordered from the menu. If we’d known at check-in, we would’ve asked to remove the breakfast package. I have an allergy and couldn’t order anything as listed, but they politely said they couldn’t customize a meal, so I requested a refund for that breakfast. I did get that refund, but not the one for cleaning the whirlpool. I usually choose Hilton, probably 90% of the time, and was appalled by this stay. Apparently there was no manager available on either of the two days I was there. I was supposed to get partial refunds for two incidents and only received one. The room could be much better if they had enough staff or time to clean it properly.

As a Diamond for LIFE member, we asked for water on our third night and were told they only give it at check-in. In all our Hilton stays, we’d never been refused water before. Also, the AC couldn’t keep the room cool during the hot part of the day.

The location worked well for getting around on foot: the subway, liquor store, Mexican and Latin restaurants, and Chipotle were a 5-10 minute walk, with a mall and more places to eat about 20 minutes away. Breakfast’s artisan sandwich was filling and tasty. The gym was okay, with a few cardio machines, a Peloton, and a pulley machine with a pull-up bar. The weights were limited to 30, 10, and 5 pound dumbbells. Staff were friendly, helpful, and very courteous. Our room was comfortable, clean, and nice, though it felt a little dated and tired. They’re renovating now, and the updates look like they’ll be nice.

I found hair all over the room, which didn’t seem to have been properly cleaned. Breakfast costs extra and was very expensive, like eating at a high-end restaurant. Even the two small bottles of cheap water in the room cost money. I was also charged a parking fee despite not having a car, and nobody asked whether I needed parking. I don’t recommend staying here.
