Days Inn Parowan

The room smelled, and it had no key. The only way to lock it was from the inside, something no one told me when I booked. I still paid full price for that room. I’ve never had an experience like this at a Days Inn, and I’d avoid this place.

We used this as our base for three nights of hiking in the parks. The beds were comfortable and breakfast was decent, and the town itself was nice. The ladies at the grocery store across the street were great. Check-in took a 30-minute wait while we waited for someone to return to the office. Beside the wall we found a dead 2-inch roach, which we were willing to overlook since it was dead. The toilet paper was the thinnest single-ply I’ve ever seen. Every day our keys stopped working, and we had to get replacements. They said the cleaning crew’s master key was overwriting ours. Towel service was hit or miss: sometimes we got two, sometimes none. We saw people from three other rooms coming from the office with towels, so it wasn’t just us.

For our family reunion, we booked seven rooms weeks ahead and were assured five would be on the ground floor because some of us have bad knees. At check-in, they could offer only two ground-floor rooms with queen beds and one room with a king. My room had one hand towel, two others had no towels at all, and there was no soap or drinking cups. The office employee had to deal with things other people had failed to take care of, and then tell us the ice maker was broken and the pool wasn’t working. Several of my grandchildren had been excited for a pool party, so that was a big disappointment. The owners won’t be in business long unless things change.

I’ve stayed twice and will keep coming back when I’m driving through. Right off I-15 and close to Cedar Breaks and Brian Head, it’s a steal. The beds are comfy, and it’s super clean and quiet. What’s not to love?
