The front desk staff were full of personality and easily the best part of the service. There’s a friendly bar crew too, and the bar itself is a nice place to gather if you drink responsibly and like a more polished atmosphere. Parking is plentiful if underground parking in California works for you. The place is accessible by wheelchair at street level and below, and you’ll see security and law enforcement around. Still, stay alert, it’s an old world with new fools. It’s peaceful, has a fun atmosphere, and the rooms are a lovely place to sleep. The rooms are great, but I’d get rid of the carpet and use laminate or something with a wood or marble look. The pool-to-room smell is understandable with so many wet feet, though it seems like carpet would be hard to keep up with. If you have bad allergies, avoid it. Otherwise it’s a good spot. There are plenty of places nearby to eat and visit, plus specialty ice cream shops, coffee spots, CVS, Walgreens, entertainment, and a college town, family-oriented feel. It’s close to the freeway, and there are beautiful people everywhere. I love people, even when we annoy each other, we all have our own issues. Happy New Year, let go of negative energy and create your reality if you can. Until the next city and review, always keeping it 100.

This place works well if you’re traveling alone and don’t expect to spend much time in the room. The lobby has a nice feel, there’s a decent bar, and the front desk is friendly and pretty responsive. It’s also in a great spot near lots of restaurants off Lake St. The room we had had no separate bathroom. The shower and toilet were right beside the bed, so there was zero privacy, which I’ve never encountered in a hotel before. There wasn’t even a coffee maker or glasses, just two paper cups. Hallway noise came through, and the doors slammed, which was especially irritating when the people next door came and went at 5am. The balcony rooms are so narrow that two people can barely stand out there.

The room was spectacular, no exaggeration. On a recent family visit, I stayed at Pasadena hotel and pool, and Eric and Andrew were just plain great. They were courteous, understanding, knowledgeable, and friendly. I’m a retired executive salesperson and have stayed in good and great hotels all over the country. If I’m ever within 50 miles of this hotel again, I’ll book it. Quality and service are part of their culture. If you’re in Pasadena, do yourself a favor and stay there.

Kathy, the Director of Sales, helped us get everything sorted well ahead of time, and she was excellent to work with. I brought a group from New York to the Pasadena Hotel, and we all really enjoyed our stay. It’s centrally located, with lots of options within walking distance. I’d give Kathy five stars too.

The rooms took some getting used to, and please put coffee makers in them! They’re all clean and in good shape, but some are very small and have no privacy, so those are better for solo travel. There are lots of great rooms too, though it takes time to figure them out. I’m guessing the historic building’s interior can’t be changed much. The common spaces are a real retreat, perfectly done. Whoever designed them deserves an award. The location is really good and the staff are great. I stay here nearly every week, and now I love it. It just took me a minute to get used to the quirks.
