Hampton Inn Pawleys Island - Litchfield

Wendy at reception was so warm and friendly when we arrived, and there were warm cookies waiting for us too. The breakfast had nice options, with “to go bags” available if you need one. Our room was clean, there were plenty of towels, the ladies' room had sanitary pads, and the washer and dryer area was clean. Thanks for everything! 😊💗

After an eight-hour drive, I checked in at 1:30am and got hassled over not having proper ID, even though I had a certified license from the DMV of Virginia. Fortunately, other members of my party had already checked in, so I could skip that process. Not the welcome you want. At checkout, the manager told me the person who booked had explicitly said each occupant would pay for their own room at checkout. Either she was a confident fool or a liar. The person who made the reservation had to call and explain, and the credit cards had to be moved around. Then the manager sent me off with a snide comment. Some people are clearly angry about their personal lives and take it out on tourists. The place wasn't nice, and the desk staff were rude. You might be better off at a motel on 17.

The room was clean, the staff friendly, and breakfast was good, with the tables kept clean. I travel a lot and have stayed at plenty of hotels and inns, so I pay attention to the bedding. Hampton Inn washes all of it between guests, including blankets, bedspreads, and comforters, not just the sheets. That's how it should be. I won't stay somewhere that reuses bedding because it's disgusting. The pillows here were clean, fresh, and properly maintained. I've had Marriotts where the pillows smelled like greasy head, and some Hiltons use polyester sheets. Hampton Inn has better sheets and clean pillows.

We were in town for a soccer tournament, and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Breakfast was great and the rooms were clean. I left my tennis shoes behind, but they called right after we drove off and kindly offered to ship them since we were already on the road. This is a great place!
