Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club

The course was in really good shape for March 1, and play moved surprisingly well despite how busy it was. It’s a beautiful community, with a lovely clubhouse, and this public course can be very challenging, especially the par 3s. I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to come back.

The back marsh 9 had some great scenery and interesting, challenging holes, and the course itself was fun. The greens rolled well, though they were a bit long and slow. My main disappointment was that a course of this caliber and price had golf carts with no GPS or screen. The all-inclusive package also only covered the lower-tier menu and drinks. Still, it was a pretty good day overall.

The signature holes at 13 and 17 are a fun challenge, with great views across the marsh and Pawleys Island. Jack Nicklaus designed this beautiful, well-maintained course. The facilities are excellent too, from the pro shop to the on-site restaurant, where you can take in the views from the indoor bar or the wraparound deck. A lovely place in a lovely town.

The layout is nice, but the course needs maintenance. Quite a few areas were burnt out, and there was barely any rough, so a ball running off the fairway often kept rolling all the way to the woods or a hazard. The greens were rock hard, and most approach shots ran through. On most tee boxes, even getting a tee into the ground was really difficult.
