Homewood Suites by Hilton Boston-Peabody

The staff were nice and the room wasn't bad for the price, but the smell and cleanliness made it hard to stay. It was incredibly hot, and I couldn't imagine getting to sleep there. The pullout couch was loud and uncomfortable, and I have no idea when its bedding was last washed. If you stay, get two beds. I'd look elsewhere around here.

The 5th floor hallway smelled awful, like dirty wet pets or a dirty bathroom. Our room was somewhat clean but needed a better vacuum, and the fridge door wouldn't stay shut, so we used our cooler to hold it closed. The gym was mostly useful for cardio, with a treadmill, bike, and a few very light weights. We were glad there were other gyms nearby. Breakfast was so-so and could use more choices, like yogurt, bacon, pastries, and fruit. The staff were amazing, always polite, friendly, and there whenever we needed them. I love the Hilton brand, but this hotel could use some TLC. We were there for a wedding the weekend of 1/10/26.

The complimentary breakfast was delicious, and using digital keys made check-in, getting into our room, and checkout easy through the app. The hotel was clean, modern, updated, and organized. We stayed for a quick weekend in Salem, and it was close enough to feel local while costing less. The tricky part was finding the entrance. It's easy to miss, especially at night, if you're not watching carefully. No other complaints.

The staff were welcoming and accommodating, but we barely slept. At 3:30am, dumpsters were moved and picked up right outside our windows. At 5:22am a dump truck came back and slammed a container down, jolting me awake again. The construction may be needed, but that noise in the middle of the night seemed unnecessary. There was a strong chemical smell when we entered the room, and the linens smelled so strongly of bleach that the bedroom felt like a pool area. After two nights, my eyes were burning and my skin was itchy, some kind of irritation or chemical reaction. I couldn't wait to get home, shower, and wash all my things.
