Candlewood Suites Pecos by IHG

We were here for several months for work, and the stay went smoothly. The management were easy to talk to and always helpful. They felt more like friends, which made the long stay easier. Our room stayed clean and comfortable, and even though it was by the elevator, we had no noise problems, loud neighbors, or people walking the hall, unlike at other places we’ve stayed. The shopping area nearby has Walmart, United grocery stores, and several food places, so picking up what we needed was easy. We also appreciated having the lobby coffee machine available 24/7. Most hotels only offer coffee at breakfast, so that was a nice extra.

The bed was comfortable, and the front desk staff and cleaning lady were very nice and helpful. But the tub was dirty and two of the three towels had stains. Noise was the biggest problem for me. We could hear the man next door talking on the phone at a normal volume, even with our TV on. At 2 am a woman was screaming and arguing with someone, and doors were banging. I couldn’t tell what she was yelling about or who she was yelling at. About ten minutes later, police knocked on someone’s door. My husband, son, and I stayed one night and couldn’t sleep. I like a quiet place, and wouldn’t recommend this hotel to light sleepers.

The staff were great, but we paid $200 for one night and there was no breakfast. The TV kept cutting in and out like an old antenna.

From Friday check-in until our Monday checkout, nobody came to clean the room. I don’t know if housekeeping has to be requested, but no one told us that when we checked in. We had meals in the room, the trash can filled up, and it started to smell. At every other hotel I’ve stayed in, housekeeping comes daily unless you hang the “Do Not Disturb” sign. That didn’t happen here, so I can only give this place one star.
