The porch light was so bright it shone straight into our room and made it hard to sleep. We asked them to switch it off or unplug it, and they agreed. The first shower brought bugs up through the drain, and the water drained slowly. We left for the day with a Do Not Disturb sign up and asked for extra towels without maid service. When we came back that night, staff had entered anyway, hung a blanket over the window, and taken the towels without replacing them. The next day we put the sign up again. They entered the room again, removed the towels and bathroom mat, then left two towels. They didn’t do the other service either, such as emptying trash or turning off all the room and bathroom lights, and the sheets were left as they were.

I travel across the US for work and stay in plenty of motels. This was one of the cleanest, most no-nonsense places I’ve been to. April works incredibly hard to look after guests, and I want to thank her. It was a pleasure staying here, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a clean room without a lot of fuss.

We’ve been staying there for the Knoxville Iowa Sprint Car Nationals for 25 years. The old manager, Sam, wasn’t very customer-friendly. Now the manager is Deep, and he and his wife are great, helpful people. I’ve already booked for next Nationals week.

For an economical stay, it’s clean and convenient, and I got a good night’s sleep and shower. Just don’t expect the decor updates you’d see with a big chain’s investment. The new owners are eager to please, and I hope their independent small business does well.
