Soundside Holiday Beach Resort

The room was clean and the location right on the beach was great, but the stay had several frustrations. I had to climb three flights of stairs multiple times a day with bags and groceries, and no lower-floor room was offered. Scaffolding partly blocked my ocean view, and power drills and hammers woke me at 7am. The shower pressure wasn’t great, and there was no shower or bathroom by the pool or hot tub, so I had to return to my room. There are a few gas stations and a liquor store nearby, but without a rental car we had to get groceries delivered. Construction materials were scattered around, and I could have been seriously hurt walking around them.

Beautiful surroundings, plenty of amenities, and a relaxing place to enjoy nature. This is my third year in a row staying here for at least a week.

Construction affected the whole resort and was poorly managed. Work went on every day except Sunday. Scaffolding blocked the balcony view, and the parking area was used to store materials and stage equipment. The outside lights were out, and when the power went off there was no emergency lighting. Climbing to the third floor was very dangerous. We’d booked 18 months ahead and were notified about the construction a week before our stay, which was unfortunate timing.

The room was fine for what it is, with decent bay views and walking distance to everything on the strip. This was our third stay, and I’m sure it will be lovely again once the updates and remodels are finished. During this visit, though, several amenities were broken or on work order, and construction noise continued throughout. That might have been fine if prices hadn’t risen considerably over the past year.
